The Trade Trek Program offers students a hands-on industry immersion experience through a walking tour of various trade and industrial workplaces. This unique program provides participants with the opportunity to visit multiple sites, allowing them to observe firsthand the operations of different industries.
During each visit, students engage with professionals, learn about the specific functions of each workplace, and discover the range of job opportunities available within those fields. This immersive experience not only enhances students' understanding of various trades but also helps them connect classroom learning with real-world applications.
By facilitating these workplace visits, the Trade Trek Program aims to inspire students to explore potential career paths, encouraging them to consider the diverse opportunities that await them in their local trades and industry sectors.
Victorian Desalination Project - Watersure
Burra Foods
School industry partnerships play an important role in improving young people's transition from school to employment. Students need exposure to different jobs and workplaces so that they can build aspirations and see where their studies could lead. SGBCLLEN partners with different industries to facilitate a range of experiences including mock job interviews, career development activities, challenge based learning projects, curriculum aligned activities, industry site tours, OH&S site inductions and other educational iniatives.
Some of our current partnerships:
Watersure (Victorian Desalination Plant)
As part of this partnership students engage in industry immersion activities and programs at the Victorian Desalination Plant. Students gain experience in the workplace by completing OH&S Inductions, site tours and science based activities with a focus on water filtration.
Victorian Energy Education Training (VEET)
The VEET program gives local students a chance to experience and learn about career pathways in the energy industry. As part of this program students engage in site tours at Loy Yang, Ausnet Services and the Chadstone Energy Training Centre as well as undertaking a structure workplace learning placement.
Work-readiness Program
The Work-readiness Program helps students develop their resume, interview skills and engages them in career development activities.
